Here’s some amusing video from the group “Billionaires for Wealthcare” as they crashed the AHIP (America’s Health Insurance Plans) conference today. Pollster Bill McInturf initially took their mocking “thank you for all the good work you do” as a compliment, and then the group broke into song, a parody of “Tomorrow” from the musical Annie, with lyrics like “the option, the option, the public wants options, without it it’s a giveaway!”
Sam Stein had a piece on this earlier.
In other creative anti-insurance company activism, Americans United For Change has released a video highlighting this peculiar tendency from insurers of late to deny babies health coverage because of their weight, whether they be too skinny or too fat. The video features “Patriot Baby,” a talking prodigy, hitting the industry for their tactics.

clever
The industry will retaliate by putting out an ad with David Gregory and KKKarl Rove doing their rap routine for health insurance profits.
The WH is pushing the Senate to WEAKEN the Public Option–apparently because of Duchess Snowe. LINK.
Didn’t mean to forget my manners. Yes,those videos are very clever.
Speaking of parodies, re the lost and clueless ’sensible centrist’ Democrats: we have news that WH is pressuring Congress to weaken the public option to keep the process all Snowed up, and keep an idiotic and meaningless bipartisan fig leaf that will mean nothing in terms of symbolism and hurt in terms of substance.
Polls show that public option is a winner with the public and they place it above bipartisan showmanship. It is also the best policy given current situation.
Looks like Obama is turning into tired and directionless ‘centrist’ Dem, that cannot distinguish substance from symbolism, and has no spine, no true beliefs. That is too bad.
(Edit in fairness to me, I have always suspected he was, but if this idiotic WH stunt is happening, then the question should be settled for good. And we should all agree that Obama is a talented and smart man, but a political chump and shallow showman in terms of domestic policy, and a poltical tool to be used, not a leader who is worthy of trusting more than any of the other time servers who comprise the majority.)
Note to self: write WH and tell them they are losers who get no more money. I will give to grassroots efforts only.
As long as KKKKarl does lots of break dancing (or tries to), it’ll be worth it. Well, almost.
“We have news” really
I wanna see him do the Moon Walk. I’ve seen 4×4s with more flexibility than that little fat fuck.
I put the link to that story up @ 3, wesgpc, for those who might want to go directly to it (you and I no doubt were commenting simultaneously). I am aghast, as you seem to be. What are they doing? Why is Snowe so important to them?
LOL. the last time I saw David Gregory on TV (I don’t watch his show) was when he was sitting next to Meredith Viera and witnessing the phenomenon of Balloon Boy puking his guts out on TV. hahahaha
They want that one vote to say that it was bi-partisan – which seems to be so very important. blegh
OK, you win. Hahahahaha.
It’s a hard knocks life for health care advocates, that’s for sure. I really admire BFW for their guts and humor.
and the baby is funnnnny!
It’s Obama’s obsession with bipartisanship. Let’s all go down to DeeCee and sing “Sally Go Round the Roses” with the fuckin’ Rethugs.
Read some polls from NV yesterday. Looks like voters in NV may be ready to throw Reid out on grounds that he is a useless nothing, which sounds reasonable to me, unless he actually decides to do something.
That might give Reid incentive to push back against WH dog and pony show.
Pretty funny stuff there!
Any chance of these singers “crashing into” Congress – - and The White House?
my post on that is now up.
I love the Billionaires’ brand of satire. And boy can they sing!
Just FYI, the Democratic Party at my county-level will be having a vote tomorrow to officially endorse a public option. Maybe we can continue to increase the pressure from the grass roots.
They are great. the kind of activism jane and others are working furiously on is critical and changes votes one at a time. the kind of activism/stunts that the billionaires pull off work too. Believe it or not those kind of stunts appeal directly to the conscience of the industry players and politicians who can be shamed by them. it worked during the VN war protests, and it worked to bring international pressure against south african apartheid. they have worked many times in Europe to change the Nuclear policy of NATO member states. they work.
Very clever!
Most excellent.
