I don't think that someone who is elderly and has emphysema and is still smoking, for example, should be allowed to get a lung transplant, but someone who is otherwise healthy and taking care of themselves, at least as much as they're able to, ought to be able to get in that line. (Heck, my mother had a knee replaced at 84, and was able to walk up stairs six months later.) Too many Rs (and a lot of Ds) in Congress seem to think that what they get, through their insurance, is the standard of care in this country, and they are so frigging clueless about the real world.
