I don't. I blame every progressive in the House for not sticking with HR 676 and for not telling anyone, and I mean anyone who asked them to compromise on anything else to go F___ themselves. From the beginning of this process progressives have shown that they could be rolled by people who believed in something, because they were oh so practical people, who could face reality. Well, the reality is that you'll get rolled every step of the way if you show that you can get rolled. It's not too late for the progressives. Kill this stinky bill. It continues to allow people to be killed because they don't have insurance, and it still leaves us with the most expensive health care in the world.

I say again. Progressives need to kill this bill and then go back to square one, and they need to tell Obama and the blue dogs that unless they pass HR 676 in the next few months, they'll get no health care bill at all, and that the blue dogs will lose in 2010 and Obama will be a one-term President.

sorry, have to disagree with you. For Stupak and his group, this has always been about abortion and women's rights. They carefully patiently played the Democratic leadership. Stupak has said so explicitly.

If this amendment makes it into the final bill, we have NO assurance that Reid (also anti-choice and women's rights) will not work to keep it in during conference. If this passes now, we enter a new, even more restrictive era in this country for women's access to the full range of health care they need and deserve.

I blame myself for believing that our "Leadership" would keep their word on this issue, and I blame them for opening the door for this to happen.

There is no doubt Stupak will pass. Remember this is not really about abortion. It is about giving blue dogs another bargaining chip to use against progressives in the conference committee.
