Yeah, Bishop, but it’s okay for 144,000 Americans to die each year through no fault of their own other than not having insurance available to them. When Al Gore or John Kerry ran for office, their defeat was aided by the Bishops because of the rights of women to decide what was best for them. You want these kids to live but damned if you’ll take care of them after they’re born. Look at the millions of deaths due to an illegal war that is still going on due to the interference of the Pope and his Bishops. If this bill dies because of the Church interfering and violating State/Religion, then I’ll send all my medical bills to these bishops.

I agree! WTF are the Catholic Bishops doing sticking their noses into legislative affairs? They don’t pay taxes because they have a religious exemption. That means they cannot play in the political pool. Yet here they are. If they want to take a secular position, let them pay taxes like the rest of the players. I for one, pay as much attention to what these guys have to say as I do when the princes of the Russian Orthodox church make statements, Or the Buddhists or , God forbid, the Muslims. Stay out of politics or start paying taxes.

“F” the catholic bishops and the horse they road in on. The catholic church is more corrupt than our government. Home of pedophiles and child molesters. they have no standing to demand anything in the political realm: be it immigration or health care. They are shameless bigots and criminals. so the catholic bishops should stay the hell out of politics.

Were I a practical joker, I would phone up the Bishop’s Conference claiming to be from the Senate conference and offer to amend the bill in the following way: wherever the words “undocumented immigrant” appeared in the bill we would add “and gay people”.

It would put them in such a quandary of competing interests and point out their hypocrisy wonderfully.

Double standard, much?
(I’d have a lot more respect for their opinions if they saw women as being at least as much real people as they see undocumented immigrants, and said so. Given some of the hypocrisy they’ve expressed in the past, I don’t expect change in my lifetime.)

Separation Of Powers is clear and enforceable. The political cowards who allowed this have overstepped.

This is a stinker and way out far away from our Constitution.

This is using women again for political power games regardless of the suffering and human consequences. To say nothing of our laws.

The Catholic Church or any other religious group has any right under our Constitution to interfere with any legislative branch. Separation of Powers. Their tax free status should be revoked.

Stupak and the Catholics who committed this stealth attack on women’s rights to advance their religious points of view is outgrageous, illegal, immoral, and cowardly. Democrat Pelosi and the cowardly Democrats who voted for this insult and threat to Roe vs Wade will pay at election time to be sure. Obama? Out to lunch as all he wants is “A BILL” for his resume.

This is inexcusable and unsupportable. Using women as political pawns with the help of the Catholic Church is unspeakable in our Democracy or whatever is left of it.

No religious group has any right to interfere. There are separation of powers in this country. Under Obama’s watch I never thought I’d see this kind of treachery. The Catholic Church should lose its tax free status, and stay out of our politics and legislative branches. That the democrats showed this kind of weakness and spinelessness along with Obama’s silence, is revolting.

Women have been used as pawns in this political game. Pelosi should be ashamed to call herself a liberal, progressive woman to have allowed this.

If this flawed healthcare bill could only pass the House with Stupak, then it should NOT have passed until Obama took a stand and changed the dynamic.

This is a dithering,shameless bunch.
