Where would I go? Can you actually get me into Denmark (it is my ancestral homeland, don'tcha know)? I didn't think so.

The aim is, in any case, not to quit but to punish and, hopefully, change. The problem with the current "progressive" approach is that it offers small carrots to our Party and its pols (at least compared to the AIGs and Pharmas) and no sticks. If the carrots must be small, the stick should really, really hurt--or at least be moderately satisfying to swing.

Why strike? Just leave... If this country moves back to the Right, its time to find someplace else to live. The Right will destroy this country, civil liberties and anything else important to the Left.

I can't do any WORST than living in Denmark....

Unfortunately its the Economy Stupid! In a country where White Privilege comes before ALL else, its making sure that family in middle America or in suburban America will have a job, screw everybody else. That's why most of the Stimulus went to "Shovel Ready Projects" and other things that matter most to those with means, which are NOT people of color by a large margin.

That's why they keep beating this "Middle Class American" drum and won't go near "Working Class" or "The Poor" because that segment of society overwhelmingly have dark skin, that's the "We Got Ours Screw U" Big D Democratic Party.

If Obama was really willing to be a one term President, then pull all the troops out of these totally unneeded wars. That would save enough money for major Energy and Climate Legislation, Health Care Reform, Transformation of our Public Education System, etc.

They basically have 6-10 months to pass all that stuff listed in the story if less than 50% is not law by Sept, Dem's can kiss their dominance in Congress good bye.

I am indeed old enough to remember. What's your point?

As I recall, Carter-/Clinton-/Rahm-Emmanuel-style, New-Democratic politics produced electoral disaster and locked in Republican control for 20+ years, in the process creating the fiscal crisis, the end of the unions, and the era of endless war. No matter how you choose to look at it, the greed and ambition of the Party leadership created the disaster, not rank-and-file disunity or bitterness. The mistake was foisting the Carters and Clintons on us in the hopes of attacting "moderates" (i.e corporations with deep pockets), not our failure to get behind the Party's Chosen Ones.

The Party has effectively locked the membership out of the processes of selecting candidates and setting policy. It counts on leaving us nowhere else to go. It counts on being able to give us Republicanism Lite with the excuse that the Limbaugh/Hannity/Rove/Palin variety is so much worse. But in real terms, the heavy form of Republicanism just looks worse. The difference is in the cosmetics, not the substance. The wars, the joblessness, the giveawways to the rich, the assaults on civil liberties, even the torturing in the secret cells all continue, only with less fanfare and less visibility.

Changing the current political situation may require sacrifices. One of these may be a new Reaganish interregnum, like the one on which Virginia is now embarking. But a line has to be drawn. We have shown that we can and will mobilize to support the right policies and candidates that claim to support same. Now we have to show that we can mobilize to oppose bad policies and punish their proponents at the polls, even at considerable cost to ourselves. Otherwise, the Party will always promise one thing and deliver another.

So, unless we see real change really soon, the Party should consider me on strike. I will be voting "NO confidence" by not voting. I say that having never failed to vote--Democratic--in an election since I turned 18 in the year eighteen-year-olds got the vote.

Are you old enough to remember Ted Kennedy's bitterly-fought primary of Jimmy Carter back in 1980? The one where the fighting went on so long and was so bitter that it left the Dems divided and ripe to allow Ronald Reagan to win with only 25% of the electorate?

I am.

Why the Hell should we grass-roots progressive Democrats vote? We busted our collective asses the last time and the only thing we got was Republican Lite. If I'd have wanted to continue with Bush III, I would have saved all those meager $20 donations I made out of my disability check to get this lying sack of s**t elected. And his lying sack of s**t f**kwad Chief of Staff (see, Rahm has no copyright on the word 'f**k'. The Village Press just titter because he uses it and other obscenities and it sounds so 'manly' that their panties get wet.)
I have given up and am seriously considering a move to another country. I have several options because I have citizenship in another country if I ever choose to exercise it. This one is so f**ked up that I don't think that there is much chance of saving it. The only thing that MIGHT change my mind is if that lying SOS in the White House fires his entire staff and starts over with at least SOME of the people who helped put him there. We do not need Bush III or Clinton II but we are well on our way to getting them.

Here's a question I've never seen addressed: Who are the Democratic moderates that Rahm sponsored? I'd like to know their names/districts, so I can keep an eye on what happens to them. Thanks to anyone who can fill me in.

No. But, I have two answers. Gore and Obama were opposed to the Iraqi War.

How many Iraqi kids did Clinton and Gore kill during the sanctions of the 1990s?

The Democrats had the power to stop the Iraq war but they folded.

These numbers would probably be enough to destroy Democratic hopes in swing district and close Senate seats throughout the country. And the reasons are pretty clear;

Democrats have simply not been given enough of a reason to come out and vote yet.

As a loyal Liberal Democratic voter of some 45 years I have got to say I am damned disappointed in Obama and our Congressional Democrats. I have always believed that our so called Democrats, who failed to buck Bush on much of anything, failed to support or even debate impeachment, failed to call for enforcement of our Federal Anti-Torture Laws against obvious and admitted violations, failed to stop the Iraq War in 2007 by stopping the funding,
Would ever get voters a health care reform bill that was created for our benefit and not that of the greedy insurance companies.

I have been waiting since the 60s for real Democrats to show up. I still do not see any. I am willing to work hard to elect real Democrats but I am also willing to work to un-elect Democrats who disappoint me. I have waited too long for just more lies and excuses from Congressional Democrats.

Any candidate
is better than a do nothing democrat who lies to me.

ANGRYVOTERS.org

It you Liberal Democratic voters are not willing to make them fear you, they will never respect you.

I am mad as hell. Are You?
