But I will say that Stupak is stating that six are standing with him… meaning there are seven in his bloc (including himself). Berry, Costello, Donnelly, Driehause, Lipinski, Rahall… and Stupak have all been pretty much confirmed switches by several sources.

Add in Arcuri, Lynch, and now Space and you get to 10 switches. If Pelosi only has 7 switches… she is still short 3 votes.

I’ll correct myself. One of the former “no” Democrat votes switched parties. So, yes, in fact if Pelosi can match switch for switch… they will get to 216.

David – you need to refigure your math.

178 GOP (assuming Cao is a no) votes – means that 38 Democrats voting “no” would put them at 216. 38 is the exact number that voted “no” the first time and are still in the Senate. (it was 39, but one “yes” left the House)

So Pelosi needs one more flip from “no” to “yes” than the opposition needs “yes” to “no” to win… not one less. So if there are 9 “yes” to “no” flips… which there certainly appears to be, then Pelosi needs 10 flips… not 8.
