Allen West may be the nuttiest of the nutjob Republicans elected last week, and it took him negative-55 days in office to register his first controversy. West signaled his intention to hire a Florida conservative talk-show host as his chief of staff. After criticism of her and some of her comments (calling Nancy Pelosi “garbage,” basically calling for armed insurrection to take back the government), West dropped her, with the talk-show host, Joyce Kaufman, saying she would not be used in an “electronic lynching” by liberals. (West is black, by the way.)
But the case doesn’t appear to be that cut and dried. Kaufman may have incited a threat against Broward County schools, which is probably more the reason she won’t be running a Congressional office in Washington.
The radio host who made comments that may have triggered a threat against Broward County schools has announced she’s stepping down as chief of staff for a recently elected conservative congressman. Meanwhile the phone call warning of the attack that led to a three-hour lockdown has been traced to a caller outside South Florida, Pembroke Pines Police said Thursday [...]
Police said the call that came into WFTL 850 AM was made by a woman from outside South Florida, who said her husband was planning to carry out a mass shooting in Broward County.
Because the threat involved government buildings and because it was made from another part of the state, the FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement have joined the investigation.
The caller was either inspired by Kaufman’s anti-government rants or upset by her treatment in the media. So they threatened to attack schools, of course. And this necessitated the firing, not merely the media coverage.
This will not be an isolated incident, I gather. Some conservatives are brimming with confidence that their extreme rhetoric was actually celebrated by the electorate last week. If they’re sore losers, they’re even worse as winners – and they’ll continue to spew vitriol at anyone who opposes them. And we now see where that can lead.
But don’t expect this to tone down the rhetoric from Kaufman or her never-was-a-former boss Allen West. He’s the guy who tortured an Iraqi police officer not so long ago.

About FDL News Desk
I thought Glen Beck was predicting an iminent domestic terror attack from the left. Could it be that he got the direction wrong?
This time they phoned in first. Eventually, they’ll just act. The right wing media machine will howl if any effort is made to stop them. The government will be intimidated by that, and will do nothing.
Damn, now that’s a fast mover there. It usually takes a couple of weeks in office before that level of idiocy becomes that obvious.
Promoting violence is an extremely serious offence, people get hurt some die. In hard time people get easily inflamed. There should be no air time or news space for promoting violence…she got canned but is a better podium. Where are the courts on promoting violence?
I can’t see what she did bothering Allen West very much at all.
Wonder why he dropped her?
I wonder how much money the gubmint spent setting up her broadcast from the ship. Is that legal? At the very least, it’s a horrible idea for them to let a wingnut broadcast from there.
This is the tip of the iceberg, I’m afraid. We’ve seen a sharp increase in right wing domestic terrorism since Obama was elected but I’m thinking we’re going to see even more in the next couple years.
Imagine more than one Oklahoma City in the near future…it boggles the mind. I wonder how the feds will respond to that. At least they managed to get out in front of the Huatree terrorists.
She is another ANGLE type..off her meds and her mouth gets away from her..don’t feel the least bit of anything towards her type.I’ve seen her ‘soap boxing at malls’..no self control at all and totally and mentally GONE
I hear our “Friends” on the Right attempting to agitate at the VA all the time with bullshit claims about the DHS report addressing Violent Domestic Rightwing Extremism. “Obama thinks Veterans are all terrorists!”, or some variant of the claim. They are, of course, speaking about the report which Napolitano was cowed into withdrawing by the howls of outrage from the Right. For it is common knowledge that only those of the Leftist persuasion can be Violent Extremists.
From the government’s perspective, when someone tries to overthrow the government, that makes them leftists. Rightists support the government. Ideology is unimportant. See how it’s all your fault now?
Pass somma that guilt over here, I’m runnin’ low. *g*
