This is getting out of hand. In its zeal to uncover why Chief Justice Roberts betrayed the cause of liberty and made Sam, Tony and that other guy cry, every one in the right wing punditry is getting aides from the Court’s right wing to spill the beans on each other. Since CBS’ Jan Crawford first reported leaks from this team, we are now up to at least five leaks (h/t Rosen via DeLong), some in conflict, and none of whom appears to care about loyalty to the court or professional ethics.
So where is Darrell Issa when the country needs him? After all, when these people screw up Constitutional law this badly, and make an unworkable hash of the law they didn’t understand but desperately wanted to take down, we need to know why.
And it’s only about 50 million times more important than Fast and Furious, unless there really is a plan to stop the insane practice of selling automatic weapons to drug gangs that are used to murder thousands of Mexicans.
So let’s have a full Monte Issa investigation, complete with hearings, sworn witnesses, subpoenas, contempt votes and civil suits, and let’s get to the bottom of this.
Because I really want to know what Ruth Ginzburg honestly thinks about the immature, petulant 19th century boys she has to work with every day. It must be hell.

I also would like to know what happened with the San Diego fireworks display last night, and I think that’s right up Darrell Issa’s alley too.
The idea that this moron and his paid goons can conduct any kind of a legitimate investigation is absurd.
No.
Darrell Issa was a jerk in the late ’80s when I lived in San Diego and he was making a name for himself. The nat’l stage has made him a bigger jerk, if that’s possible. As for investigating the Supreme Ct. I’m all for it. Let’s start with Scalia/Cheney, then move to Thomas/IRS, and finish up with Bush v. Gore and/or the Citizens United fiasco. The SCOTUS rulings are so politically skewed to the right it’s lucky we have any privacy rights left. Oh, that’s right, we don’t.
No, we don’t. The real kick in our teeth is that it is not just our Government that is spying on us. They have farmed most of that out to civilian contractors that get to decide who, what, when and where. You can thank that lovely DiFi for all her assistance in taking away your Bill of Rights.
The necessity, from the republican perspective, of portraying the ACA, written by right-wing think tanks and the health insurance industry’s lobbies as proof of Obama’s deep commitment to socialism requires tactics so convoluted and brazenly dishonest that they threaten to embarrass even the un-embarrassible American political class.
The issue is not whether congress will attempt to get to the bottom of the problem they have so carefully nurtured, but will Obama-bots on the one side, and the wing-nut T-partiers on the other finally have to admit to being totally clueless about the true nature of their respective heroes, and allow the light of truth to finally illuminate their faux-perspectives.
We’re all living the results of a failed polity, unified in its service to the wealthy and powerful, operating under the cover of a false narrative of stark polarization.
It’s not the government that Grover Nordquist is drowning in the bathtub, and it’s not just the republicans who are helping him.
It’s all of us whose lungs are filling up with water, and the twisted machinations of the SCOTUS are just the latest place the illusion is wearing thin and threatening to blow the cover of our rulers, and reveal that both ‘sides’ are cooperating enthusiastically in this monstrous crime.
Great topics. Of course, this is all tongue in cheek, because for those of us who still believe in the great theories, you would never compromise the independent judiciary. So this is about mocking the right, not about Issa actually doing anything, because This is the last thing he would do.
Well said.
I agree with Scarecrow, Watt4Bob, that is a concise and well-said description of our common, deliberately brought upon us, plight.
DW
Scarecrow, the behavior of SCOTUS, very clearly from Bush v. Gore onward, in collusion with the behavior of the rest of the political class, including the media, IS central to the planned (and treasonous) destruction of the Rule of Law and democracy in this nation …
Thank you for consistently refusing to surrender to simplistic polemical framing and expedient political “calculations”.
DW
Bah, keep the leaks coming. Now that we live in a police state and every government branch is as transparent as a blindfold the citizenry is left with leaks. Given the state of American democracy, Americans deserve more leaks not less.
While DiFi, the Defense Industry Darling, did her part, everyone who voted for the original Patriot Act or for its renewal is responsible for it replacing the Bill of Rights.
I’d personally love it if Mitt got elected, then a GOP Congress impeached and removed Roberts. I know that we’d just get another Roberts-type, but the idea that he’d get ousted over switching his vote warms my heart. Fuckin’ sellout.
Have you ever thought that he may have switched his vote as instructed, or on second thought after some ‘communication’?
He dosen’t strike me as the sort who changes his mind after careful deliberation.
