Obama just concluded his 1:30 press conference – highlights:
“Deal is within sight” but not done yet
“Our most immediate priority is to stop taxes going up for middle class families starting tomorrow.”
“Any future deficit agreement” after this week will have to include more taxes.”
“If Republicans think i will finish the job of deficit reduction through spending cuts … then they have another think coming.”
“It has to be a matter of shared sacrifice as long as I’m president. And I’m going to be president for another 4 years.”
The future deficit agreement quote is quite interesting. There is a real question over whether there will be a substantive agreement or a punt to buy time for some future agreement.
10 hours left.

huh? This is the punt. There is no substantive agreement. This “punt” increases the deficit.
Touche. I mean an even shorter punt to 30 days from now, freezing everything as is.
This is so fluid so I’m just trying to read the tea leaves a bit. We will know soon enough.
We dont need a bad deal I hope Bernie Sanders completes his threat to vote no.
Or better yet a joint statement by Ron Paul where Paul offers to vote yes for a change if the military budget is cut,

Why is only 10 hours left. They can continue to negotiate to 7 or 8 am January 3 morning when Burnie Sanders and other lame ducks march out and the new members take their place. If I am wrong I would like to no the reason why it cant happen.
