Another day, another illegal drone strike in Yemen. This time the backlash in Yemen is severe enough to warrant the urging of Americans to leave the country. Killing civilians leads to that kind of backlash.

A pair of suspected U.S. drone strikes killed four [SUSPECTED] al Qaeda militants in Yemen as the United States maintained a heightened security alert in the country and urged all Americans to leave immediately… None of those killed on Tuesday were among the 25 names on the country’s most-wanted list, security officials said…

Also Tuesday, the State Department urged Americans in Yemen to leave immediately, citing terrorist activities and civil unrest. All non-emergency U.S. government personnel were also told to leave.

I added that “suspected” part because if the U.S. has proved anything in Yemen it’s that the drone program lacks accuracy. Yemen is where the U.S. killed four American citizens. Some by accident, allegedly.

Acting on the intelligence information, the United States heightened its security stance, issuing a worldwide travel alert and closing a number of embassies and consulates over large areas of the Middle East and Africa this week.

The State Department said the substantial security steps reflect an “abundance of caution” over intelligence information that indicated final planning by al Qaeda in Yemen for possible terrorist attacks on Western targets to coincide with the end of Ramadan this week.

Instead, the U.S. attacked civilians in Yemen. So is this alert a self-fulfilling prophecy? The U.S. is planning for attacks which are really counter-attacks?

In any case, perhaps it is time for Congress and the public to become fully informed about the Obama Administration’s Dirty Wars in Yemen; especially as these wars are, according to the U.S. government, leading to counter-attacks that are forcing us to close and evacuate our embassies.
