UPDATE: Army secretary says Fort Hood shooter saw no combat in Iraq, was not wounded.

The soldier who engaged in a shooting spree at Fort Hood yesterday, killing three and then himself, was an Iraq War veteran suffering from conditions like PTSD according to the commanding general of Fort Hood.

The shooter, Army Specialist Ivan Lopez, “was being treated for behavioral and mental health issues” and had served four months in Iraq in 2011.

The authorities said Specialist Lopez appeared to have walked into one building, then gone inside a vehicle and fired shots from the vehicle with a .45-caliber Smith & Wesson semiautomatic pistol that had recently been bought in the Killeen area. He got out of the vehicle, walked into another building and opened fire again, and then engaged with a female military police officer before shooting himself.

The shooting does not seem to be part of any terrorist plot or group nor is it clear that Specialist Lopez is a Muslim but that did not stop conservative filmmaker Pat Dollard from issuing a grotesque warning.

Dollard lists himself as a Breitbart contributor and has written on the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt as well as other topics.

In any case, the shooting on a military base is not expected to lead to any major changes, perhaps some altered security procedures.
