I Wonder If You Can

John Lennon . . .

I’m sick and tired of hearing things from uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocrites. All I want is the truth. Just gimme some truth.

Sounds like a reasonable request.

Unfortunately, the truth got buried ten-feet-deep under the amber waves of grain because the up-tight politicians, short-sighted profit-chasers, and narrow-minded hypocrites of the US of A’s corporate media machine are all either directly involved in systemic fraud and abuses of power or are complicit in the ongoing cover ups that have been concocted in order to keep covering up the cover ups of all the earlier cover ups.

In a rare moment of candor, George H. W. Bush explained why the political, economic, and media elites are so fond of that perpetual, bipartisan, across-the-board, you cover my ass and I’ll cover yours partnership they‘ve forged with one another . . .

“If the American people ever find out what we have done, they will chase us down the streets and lynch us.”

We have a BINGO. Thank you for playing, Poppy.

I don’t know how much longer that crime syndicate you all call a government will last, but the Clusterfuck Meter has been red-lining for 30 years, the warning sirens are wailing in the control rooms of Karma, the Clock of Justice is still ticking on the Websites of Truth, and you are going to be held accountable. For your wars and your torture, for your CIA and NSA and TSA, for those pig circuses you call elections and felons you call candidates, for that propaganda machine you call the media and that shining junkyard on a hill you call an economy.

We have to be the Karma we seek. That’s how it works. I know some of you are tired, I know some of you are depressed, I know it all seems hopeless sometimes, but you have to shine on. No matter what. When the night has come and the land is dark, we all have to shine on, because too many lights have already gone out and will never shine again.

Too many.

Far too many.

We don’t need more austerity, we don’t need more military spending, we don’t need more police and more prisons and more drones ripping through the sky, we don‘t need “tort reform”, we don’t need “entitlement reform”, we don’t need ten more deficit commissions, we don’t need divide-and-conquer politicians tearing up what’s left of the social fabric, we need each other. Needing each other and helping each other is why we’re here.

When all of the election fuss is over, when the winners head back to Washington and the losers, otherwise known as the “electorate”, look around as the smoke clears and the echoes of the attack ads fade away, they’ll notice if they aren’t completely brain dead yet that all they did was hand the winners more two-party system shovels so they can keep digging the rabbit hole deeper.

So we’ll have to keep telling the truth. We’ll have to shine on a little longer. We’ll have to hit the streets with Occupy so the “winners” will know the days of triangulation and bogus centrism and voting for the lesser evil are over. We’ll keep standing up for what we believe in and never back down, we’ll defend the rule of law and stand with striking workers and confront the bankers instead of just talking about it.

Imagine doing that, Obama.

Imagine doing that, Democrats.

I wonder if you can.
